Sharon Samples | b. 1982 | Mobile, AL
As her parents tell it, Sharon has been drawing ever since she could hold a pencil. I won a coloring contest when I was four and never looked back.
After working several years utilizing her graphic design skills in the printing industry, she finally answered the call to pursue a career in education, working first in her hometown of Mobile, AL before relocating to the Montgomery area in fall of 2018.
She is a graduate of the University of South Alabama, having received a BFA in Graphic Design. She earned her certification in Visual Arts Education from Athens State University in 2020.
She has exhibited her drawings in gallery shows in Mobile and Montgomery, most recently having her work included in the BLK FWD Vol. 1 group show at the Tullibody Fine Arts Building. In her free time, she tries to keep her plants alive in between spending time with her family, thrifting, and using her photography and curatorial skills and love of history to maintain her online vintage shop.
Sharon fulfilled a lifelong dream of illustrating a children’s book written by her former student, Jakari Johnson, Your Career, Your Superpower, which can be found here.
In July 2020, I opened an online vintage boutique called leaf river vintage.
She drink a lot of tea.
She also does photography.

A character I created around 2002, she's the avatar for this site. She has a story that may eventually see light in comic form.
